THANK GOODNESS.
Friday:
We did end up going to OU, after all. We just left three hours later than anticipated. I got to the school with two minutes to spare. Yep. Then I had my home-school interview a little after 4:00. That didn't go as hot as I'd hoped.. I gave a couple stupid answers. >.< The lady turned out to be very nice, though. So that's good. She was easy to talk to, but for some reason I just said stupid stuff a couple times! I was really nervous. My hands were shaking through the whole thing :P
After that was all over and done with, we got baaaack into my dad's tiny little car, and off we went to the nearest Wal-Mart because my dad needed a new tire. They said, "That'll be about a 2 1/2 hour wait." So we walked all over the stupid store, and at this point we were all starving, because it was about 5:30 and none of us had eaten since breakfast (and I personally hadn't even had breakfast). We ate at the Subway inside the Wal-Mart, then walked around some more. Then they buzzed dad's little "Your car is done!" thing so we went over to the automotive department and they said, "Hey, we aren't allowed to fix this tire, it's too close the the wall and" yadda yadda yadda. I don't understand car-talk. I was just ticked off that we spent 2 1/2 hours walking around Wal-Mart in our extremely tired states just so that they could say, "Oh, hey. Sorry, can't fix it. You'll have to buy a tire patch and fix that up yourself." Thanks, esteemed Wal-Mart crew.
After all that, we drove to our hotel and got ourselves all settled in. Then went to sleep.
Saturday:
Woke up at 7:30, I think? Took a shower, got myself all fancied up in my neeeeeew dress. =). Pantyhose, new shoes, and everything. I felt pretty fancy. I had a very small amount of breakfast, prepared myself for the events of the day, and off we went! TO OU MUSIC TRY-OUTS! W00T W00T!
We had a little trouble finding the proper parking area.. But after all that, we went inside the music department's building. They told me where everything would be and my paper of what time I did each thing and all that.
First, I went to a piano warm-up room and practiced each of my songs for my audition a few times through and did some scales to loosen up. Get all loosey goosey. It helps, sometimes.
Then, I had my theory exam. I went into the room and there were like 20 Macintosh computes up, so obviously this told me that the theory test was on the computers. For some unknown reason, when I sat down at my computer and put my headphones on and all that, I touched the screen to hit start. I touched it! What the heck! Clearly, it wasn't a touch screen. I was obviously supposed to use the mouse (which, when I looked, was right in front of me.) Good thing there was no one else in there except the teacher yet. I would have felt even more stupid.
After I was done with that, I zipped up to the fifth floor of the building to await my turn in the audition room. OH BOY! When it was my turn, Dr. Fisher came out and greeted me and directed me into the room. He asked me what songs I was playing, and I told him. And I asked him if he needed my music (they ALWAYS need your music because they watch it while you play it [from memory, that is]) And he said, "Nope, you can keep that!". I was like, "Uh.. Okay then.... I'll use it!" So even though I stressed for months over memorizing these songs for this specific audition, I threw that all out the window in the heat of the moment. My playing was alright, I suppose. Not top-notch, but not bad. After that he asked me to sit down and they asked me a couple questions, blah blah blah.
Then came the luncheon. Pizza, salad, and Sprite is all that was offered. That's okay though. I didn't need to eat much. We prospective students had a tour of the school, and got to ask our tour guide any questions at all, and.. Yeah. You know, basic stuff. Then we went back to the room where we left our parents, and they had gone through a question/answer thing with the faculty members of the Music School.
After that, I had an hour to wait for my required interview, since I'm looking into music therapy. I got up there, and the lady was so nice. She was lovely ^_^. And during this "interview," she just talked through the whole thing. xD She didn't ask me one single thing about myself. Haha. It's pretty hard to mess up an interview like that. I just nodded and smiled at everything she said, and she was completely charmed by me. ;D
After ALL THIS was over,
We left.
And went to the hotel room to laze about.
My dad and I watched a silent movie from the '20s. And the dog's name in this movie was Homo. (Not joking.) So everytime they spoke to the dog, the screen would say, "Be quiet, Homo!" or "NO HOMO! COME BACK!" xDD My dad and I laughed and laughed and laughed every time they said it. I believe the movie was called The Man Who Laughed. Kinda a dumb title, but it was a very good movie.
Later last night we went out to eat at an Indian restaurant near OU, then back to the hotel where we all slept.
Sunday:
Today, I think we all got up at about 8:00? But really, I'm not sure because I never looked at the clock. We all got dressed and ready, then got all of our stuff packed up and took it out of the hotel room and loaded it into dad's car. This took a little while...
Then, we all partook in free breakfast in the hotel lobby. Mmmmm, waffles.
Back into the car.
Then the drive back to the home town.
=/
I did math from the time we left Athens, until we got to Van Wert. Yeah. That's about 3 1/2 hours of doing math. It sucked. >.<
When we got to Van Wert, I had another piano concert to attend. Yaaaaaaay! [bleck.]
This concert was for all of the students who played a class A song for solo and ensemble last weekend, and got a "superior" rating. (Which I did, because I'm awesome.) So I prepared myself yet again for more piano-playing. I changed into nicer clothes once we got there, and then sat and waited.. Since we got there 30 minutes early. When the time came, they told all of us students where to go and what to do to make the whole thing go all smoothly-like. Then it started. I was toward the beginning, so it was over with pretty fast. I was happy about that. Most of the students there were part of ensembles, and not individual performers.
Individual instrumentalists of mainly just piano and voice are the only ones I ever get to hear, so I enjoyed hearing the ensembles. Those were lovely.
I messed up my song a little bit, but oh well. I wasn't so concerned about this performance today. I figured, the weekend's stressful events were pretty much already finished.
After that we went to a Mexican restaurant in Van Wert. Then we came home.
Ahhh, home at last.
Yes, indeed.
I'm sooo tired. It's not even 9 yet and I could definitely go to sleep right now. *yawn*
But I'm glad I'm done with this weekend. I've been stressing out about these events for a month or more, and I'm so glad it's over with.
Now, hopefully I get accepted :P
