Pride and Prejudice -

Prior to about a month ago, I had never seen Pride and Prejudice, nor read the book. A friend told me that it was a must see. So we watched it together. That is, the 1995 version with Colin Firth, oh yes ;) But more on him in a moment. I thought the movie was amazing. We watched all five hours in a row because I was so hooked. After I got home, I noticed that in my British Lit. book for school, I had to read Pride and Prejudice in my next unit. What a coincidence! So I got the book from the library and started it, and the movie is almost completely word-for-word from the book! I've now watched it about five or six times, I can't imagine a better version is possible to make. ESPECIALLY not one that stars Kierra Knightly. Ew!

First of all, Kierra Knightly annoys the bajeezus out of me. Can't stand that lady. She can't possibly do justice to the character of Lizzy. Now, I won't lie, I haven't actually seen this version, but I have no intention of doing so. I don't want to taint my image of this fabulous film with a crappy version of it. And the '05 Mr. Darcy in that version is icky!

Now, about Colin Firth:
He's a hunk o' hottie right there. Oh yes.
I like looking at him.
He's the best possible candidate for this character.
So gifted is he, with the nasty facial expressions, offensive behavior, and
stand-offish-ness.
Even when he was being a complete jerk, I still wanted her to accept that nasty proposal.
Ha, every time I watch it, I still gasp inside at his painful words.
Pierces my soul!
Speaking of pierces my soul...
*Look* at this guy!
I can hardly dream up a better looking man.

Now... The NEW Mr. Darcy... Looks like this:

Ummmm, yeah.....

I'll take Colin Firth, thanks.
