We got to Indy at about 5:15 maybe? And we were in line by 5:30. We waited for about an hour, and then the doors opened and we were led inside for pocket checks and ticket checking. Then we were led downstairs into this underground-looking club/bar, which was pretty cool, not gonna lie. It was lit up all neat and everything.
Before I go on, this is what the theater looked like:
It was very pretty. We were in the Egyptian Room of the theater, but I can't find a picture of that online so you just have to use your imagination :P
So it was a nice place, I enjoyed it. Anyways, so we waited in the underground area for not too long. Then we were released from our holding cell into the hallways and staircases that led us to the Egyptian Room. We were probly like, 12-15 rows of people away from the stage? So we were pretty darn close. We stood there for an hour, which, I might add, was the longest hour of my life. And during that time people continued to file in from the doors so that by the time the first band started, it was pretty packed in there.
There were two opening bands, as is customary. The first was called Funeral Party and I don't think I liked them too much. I would have to listen to recordings of their songs to be sure, but from what I heard I'm leaning toward dislike. They played for half an hour, then the lights came on and we waited like 30-35 minutes for them to set up for the next band. During Funeral Party, I couldn't see at all. I swear, the guy in front of me was like 7 feet tall. >.< But that's alright. Then when the second opening band ('Fun' ... Yeah, that's literally the name. I had never heard of them but I think they must be pretty popular because there were some people that came just to see them) finally came on stage, everyone in the back of the crowd decided to push forward and try to get to the front. So we were pushed and shoved and I was plastered against this guy in front of me who was a bit of a bigger guy, and he was holding his ground for a few seconds. And since I was being pushed so hard from the huge crowd behind us, I couldn't breathe for a second, which was pretty terrifying. I sent up an earnest prayer and then the fat guy moved. During this time of pushing and shoving and stampeding, Allie and I got separated from Becca. But we found her after they left the stage, plus I saw which way she went when we got separated, and we got super close to the stage, so it was alright :P
Anyways, so Fun came out and played for maybe 45 minutes? And they were alright, I think. But again, I'd have to listen to recordings of their music to be sure, but I probly won't :P. They were fun though. (pun intended.) Then they went off the stage and we had to wait another 30-40 minutes for them to set up for Panic!. That was annoying. My legs were starting to get tired from standing so long. >.>. And then, finally, Panic! At the Disco emerged from side-stage and placed themselves at their instruments. And they were amazing. Brendon Urie looks just as great in person as he does on the internet :P. They all sounded great live, and the two guys that they got to replace Ryan and Jon were very good. The set list that I had found was mostly correct, but I think they must change things up a little bit, because there were some additional ones in there. Altogether, they played:
Lying Is the Most Fun
The Only Difference
I Write Sins
Camisado
That Green Gentleman
Nine in the Afternoon
Ready to Go
The Ballad of Mona Lisa
Hurricane
Always
Calendar
Nearly Witches
(not in that order)
But they also did some extra stuff. They brought out the lead singer of Fun for this one song that they both sang, and I didn't know that song. Brendon also rapped a little, which was sooo odd. By the time I thought, "Hmm. I should maybe be recording this." he was done. So I think he only rapped a few lines. But I'm okay with that. They also did Carry on My Wayward Son as one of the encore songs, and they actually sounded really great. He was funny too, which is always a plus.
I had a blast and I would love to see them again sometime.
And now, the pictures! Enjoy :)
